Is the Article Credible?
One of the sources I found is titled, Eliminating Health And Health Care Disparities Among The Growing Population Of People With Disabilities. I found this article on google scholar searching disabilities and healthcare. These were the two words that helped me access the majority research that made up my paper. I learned through researching that simplicity is better to search broadly to find a variety of sources, and then become narrow/specific once you attain the sources. The paper is credible, being published within the last 15 years. Along with this, it was written by a medical researcher, who is currently a professor at Harvard Medical School. The article gave their definition of disability, the disparities that exist in healthcare, and the inaccessibility to certain facilities or equipment. These were useful aspects to learn to build a foundational knowledge on the topic. However, I wish it specified which disabilities are at higher risk or more susceptible to reduced health care services along with explaining the difference in this issue based on culture and different countries. I appreciated how the article expressed that this is not a minority issue based on the amount of individuals affected by disabilities explaining the importance of increased accessibility to healthcare.
